Planning Technician

We're looking for a Planning Technician to provide planning advice and support the processing of resource consents. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong customer service skills, an eye for detail, and an interest in planning legislation, building legislation and local government.
About the role
As a Planning Technician, you'll play a key role in supporting both customers and colleagues by providing accurate planning information and undertaking planning assessments across a range of applications.
You'll be responsible for:
- Undertaking planning checks on Project Information Memorandums (PIMs), building consents, Land Information Memorandums (LIMs), alcohol licence applications and event proposals.
- Providing timely and consistent planning advice to customers and internal stakeholders (face to face, email and phone).
- Assisting with the processing of resource consent applications and related approvals.
- Supporting the development and improvement of planning guidance, processes and customer communications.
- Helping resolve customer queries and providing technical planning support across Council.
About you
You are a confident and customer-focused professional with excellent communication skills and a positive, approachable nature. You enjoy helping customers navigate requirements by providing clear and practical advice. You are keen to grow your industry knowledge, have a strong appreciation for the customer perspective, and thrive in a collaborative team environment. With a proactive attitude, attention to detail, and a bubbly personality, you'll build strong relationships with a diverse range customers and colleagues.
Practical experience in planning or resource management environment is not essential but working in a similar role will be advantageous to this position.
