Resource Management Planner
Selwyn offers a unique mix of rural charm and urban development. Based in Rolleston, just 25km from Christchurch, you'll enjoy a family-friendly lifestyle, easy access to the outdoors, and a workplace that values balance, wellbeing, and collaboration.
About the role
As a Resource Management Planner, you'll play a key role in continuing to shape Selwyn's future. You'll process a range of resource consent applications from end to end while ensuring excellent customer service, a continuous improvement approach and the application of best practice.
Your work will be guided by your interests and development goals, balanced with the team's work plans and priorities. You could see yourself:
- Processing a variety of resource consent applications and related approvals
- Providing Resource Management Act and District Plan information along with technical advice to customers via phone, email and in person
- Prepare and present evidence as an expert witness as required
- Undertake research in support of planning related appeals or proceedings
- Deliver planning input to Land Information Memoranda and Building Consent processes
- Liaise with other Council teams to provide feedback and support on plan changes, policy formulation, plan effectiveness monitoring, resource consent monitoring, and compliance and enforcement matters.
About you:
You'll already have practical experience under your belt as a Resource Management Planner, beginning to work autonomously and confident to take the lead on a variety of applications and approvals. You'll hold a tertiary qualification in Urban/Regional Planning, Resource Management or a related discipline which is recognised by the NZPI. You'll be well organised, a clear communicator and have great attention to detail.
Of equal importance are your soft skills. You'll build relationships with ease, be a great team player and enhance our team culture by living our values.
