Official Information Requests
About the role:
Working as part of our Legal and Risk Team, reporting into our Governance Lead you will be responsible for coordinating the management of all information requests that come into council (Local Government Official Information and Meeting Act (LGOIMA), Privacy Act and Ombudsman requests) ensuring that the appropriate information is collected and reported on within legislative timeframes.
- Assess incoming requests in relation to LGOIMA and Privacy Act, with the ability to quickly identify what information is required
- Communicate requests and coordinate compilation of information with relevant departments within our organisation
- Analyse information received to ensure appropriateness and comprehensiveness of requests, assess (with assistance from the Legal Team) all information for release
- Assist with reporting on requests to our Executive Leadership and Audit and Risk Committee
- Assist with improving internal systems to manage requests
- Assist with improving transparency and reporting to the Public
About you:
With demonstrated experience of managing processes to meet deadlines, you will have 2 to 5 years' experience in a similar environment such as immigration, courts or a law firm, where you have been working with information, policies, Acts and/or research. A background within comms, media or as an administrator from the public sector would also be beneficial.
To do well in this role, you'll need great initiative and good nous to know how to proceed and respond to requests, to be able to assess the information you've collected and ensure its appropriate for response, or when to escalate.
You will also have:
- Experience in building relationships both internally and externally
- A high level of digital literacy, with experience of using technology to achieve effective outcomes and driving organisational innovation and change
- Demonstrated success in working collaboratively and being part of organisational and cultural change initiatives
- Ability to communicate both written and verbally - clearly and appropriately for a range of audiences and adapt style accordingly
- Great attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to organise and prioritise work well
