Roading Network Protection Advisor
About the role:
Transportation is key to keeping the Selwyn District moving and developing. Reporting to our Transportation Delivery Manager in our Operational Delivery Team you will be coordinating and approving the works Utility Operators and contractors carry out within the Council Transport Corridor/Legal Road to minimise any inconvenience the work's causes road users. This includes excavations, Temporary Use of Legal Road, Vehicle crossings, Structures on the Road and the mitigation of damage caused by builders/ contractors.
Our road assets are vital to the success of our district, and we want you to ensure they are protected.
Key responsibilities include
- Provide professional expertise and advice for the development of all new Entranceways and Vehicle Crossing Infrastructure.
- Monitor and inspect third party reinstatement work to the network, ensuring compliant reinstatement is undertaken and the network asset is not compromised.
- Work with partner organisations to deliver an acceptable, safe, sustainable transport network, to achieve best possible network performance.
- Coordinate the handover of completed transport assets from internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinate resources and processes to ensure roading objectives are met. Including, identification of deficiencies in the roading network and development of appropriate and prioritised solutions
- Support Development Engineering, assisting with monitoring of new interface, Entranceways and Vehicle Crossing Infrastructure.
- Assist and support Projects as required with monitoring and inspecting.
About you:
You will have enthusiasm for traffic management and road safety. An STMS Level 1/NZ Guide equivalent is desirable, however we are happy to offer training in this area, you will have a willingness to learn from others knowledge and experience, however the intellectual ability to offer ideas and learn and understand legislative requirements is essential. You will be responsive to the changing needs of all stakeholders.
You will also have:
- At least 5 years work experience in traffic management
- Knowledge and use of RAMM, Submitica and CAR Manager
- Diploma in a Technical/Professional field
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build and maintain relationships.
- High energy and results driven.
- Financial Literacy
- Liaise, and build positive relationships with other professionals within the organisation
