About the role:
Are you working part-time and would like to increase your hours? Or perhaps you're an active retiree or parent wanting some casual work, or shift worker who has some extra time in your day?
We are looking for enthusiastic people to join our pool of casual event staff. Our teams help to plan, set up and deliver community events at various locations throughout Selwyn District. Selwyn Council delivers community events to help local people connect, have fun and enjoy local parks and spaces. We deliver local community events like Teddy Bears Picnic, Harvest Festival & Kite Day, Matariki, Culturefest, SWELL and more.
Our events happen throughout the year and can be on any day of the week or weekend, day or night.
- Assist staff with preparing for, delivering, and packing down Council delivered events from a range of public facilities and reserves.
- Greeting guests as they arrive and directing them to where they need to be.
- Responding to customer enquiries and concerns in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
- Provide friendly and professional customer service throughout events.
- Assisting with serving food, catering and or drinks and refreshments.
- Help with the set-up and pack-down of event equipment, including the ability to lift and carry heavy items.
- Support with the safe operation of event tools and equipment, including reversing a trailer.
About you:
We are looking for individuals who:
- Have some flexibility to work at various times, including weekends.
- Are reliable, have a driver's license (restricted or full) and a strong sense of commitment
- Experience working in a customer service environment
- Effective listening and communication skills, and problem solving skills.
- Have the physical capability to walk around for long hours and carry heavier items.
- Can safely reverse a trailer and assist with the movement of event equipment.
