Risk Manager

About the role:

In this crucial role, as a member of the Legal & Risk Team, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our organisation's success by leading and continually improving our risk management framework across Council.

This role is full time 40 hours per week however for the right candidate we will consider a 32-hour week.

This will include:

  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that may affect Council's operations, reputation, and financial performance.
  • Leading and managing the ongoing integration of Councils risk framework
  • Introducing an inhouse Education Programme to build risk awareness across the organisation
  • Develop and maintain a map of Council assurance activity and ensure appropriate monitoring and reporting
  • Produce reports and performance indicators for use internally and externally, including reporting to Council.
  • Provide expert advice to the organisation on risk management practices
  • Develop and maintain an extensive network of contacts and partnerships with key stakeholders, service providers and community groups.

About you:

You will be a strategic thinker with proven experience in risk management, ideally within a complex, highly regulated environment.

  • Working knowledge of ISO 31000 or other risk related management framework
  • A tertiary qualification or certification in Risk Management
  • Previous experience in assurance, audit management or risk management at a senior level
  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills
  • A team player with excellent leadership and coaching skills, fostering a collaborative risk-aware culture.
  • Strong problem resolution and decision-making skills
