Senior District Community Learning Librarian

Exciting opportunity to be part of Te Ara Ātea

Rolleston, New Zealand

Reference: 5342867

Do you have the courage to work in a dynamic and agile customer service and learning environment - doing things a bit differently?

Do you understand the importance of public libraries, arts, and cultural experiences within local communities - and dream about what we could do better in the future?

Do you enjoy supporting colleagues to learn new skills - to do things they never imagined they could?

We are ready to appoint an outstanding library/arts/cultural/education professional to help us move Rolleston Library across to the new 2,200m2 Te Ara Ātea, our new cultural centre which will open in late Spring this year. We are looking for someone to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of Te Ara Ātea and to assist the Libraries and Service Centres Operations Manager with the leadership of Selwyn Libraries' four service delivery teams.

This role sits within Selwyn Council's Arts, Culture and Lifelong Learning (ACLL) team and provides an incredible opportunity for a talented professional to further develop leadership, coaching and project management skills.

ACLL - which looks after libraries (including the Edge Connector vehicle service and Digital Library), service centres (Council services and information), arts, culture and lifelong learning programmes - is developing services and delivering programmes to meet the expectations of the rapidly growing Selwyn population.

It is the perfect time to join us if you are keen to work with a future focused team within a dynamic environment.

In your first year in this role we expect you will have helped us coordinate the move from the Rolleston Library to Te Ara Ātea; helped us plan new workflows, organise logistics and design new processes; assisted with service coordination at the four libraries/service centres across the Selwyn District; supported colleagues by coordinating training and professional development; and helped the Leadership Team with a number of projects.

It will be a busy job with lots of opportunity and action so if you are keen to hit the ground running and join a fast paced, innovative team - apply today to join us!
