Building Control Officer

Our Building Team work hard to ensure that all buildings constructed in the Selwyn District are safe and fit for purpose. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Building Control Officer to join our knowledgeable team.
As a Building Control Officer you will be providing professional, effective and efficient implementation and administration of Selwyn District Council's regulatory building responsibilities as required by the Building Act 2004 and other relevant legislation.
To be successful in this position, you will have the ability to contribute towards flexible work practices through delivering the full range of building control functions in order to optimise work flow throughout Building Services. From consent processing to site inspections, you will be confident in projects and investigations, ensuring that all building control functions are competently carried out to achieve compliance with relevant building controls in the Selwyn District, meaning buildings are safe and fit for purpose.
Ideally we are looking for a candidate who holds a Diploma in Building Surveying or equivalent building control experience. However, we will consider applications from those working towards an appropriate NZ qualification in Building.
While having an understanding and experience within the building industry is a must, so is the ability to deliver excellent customer service and communicate effectively while demonstrating strong time management, organisational and decision making skills.
