Lifeguards

Rolleston

We are currently looking for two lifeguards and one senior lifeguard to join our fun and motivated team on a full time basis.

You will be involved in ensuring high quality and effective supervision of Aquatic Centre customers by proactively and vigilantly supervising the pool environment to prevent and manage incidents.

In addition, Senior Lifeguards are responsible for providing leadership to the team and support to the Aquatics Supervisor.

Providing excellent customer service is an essential part of this role through creating strong relationships with the local community and facility users.

To be a lifeguard at our centre you need to:

  • Be able to swim 200m in 6 minutes or less
  • Have the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
  • Be a committed team player, who is able to act in a proactive manner
  • Have the ability to retain professional demeanor, think clearly and remain calm during an emergency
  • Be passionate about swimming and what the pools have to offer

Ideally you will have a Level 2 First Aid Certificate and a valid Pool Lifeguard Practicing Certificate however this is not essential as full training will be provided for the right applicant.

Please see shift details for the roles below:

Senior Lifeguard (two week rotating roster)

Week 1: Tuesday to Friday 5:45am to 1:45pm and Saturday 7:45am to 4:15pm

Week 2: Tuesday to Friday 1:30pm to 9:30pm and Saturday 12pm to 8:30pm

Lifeguards

Both of these roles work a combination of early, day and late shifts on a two week rotating roster with a mixture of weekday and weekend shifts.

Early weekday shifts: 5:45am to 1:45pm

Day weekday shifts: 7am to 3pm

Late weekday shifts: 1:30pm to 9:30pm

Saturdays: 8:30am to 4:30pm

Sundays: 9am to 5pm

We value the safety of our young people and therefore appointments for this role are subject to a satisfactory safety check including a police vetting process. Please note that a practical swim test assessment is part of the recruitment process.
