Rates and Receivables Officer

We're currently looking for a Rates and Receivables Supporting Officer to join our knowledgeable team and continue their career within a growing organisation.
This varied role is based at our modern offices in the growing town of Rolleston with free onsite parking. Rolleston is an easy commute from Christchurch or within Selwyn and has an ever increasing range of services available locally.
As a Rates and Receivables Supporting Officer within our team you will be involved in a range of tasks that include supporting the maintenance of the rates database ensuring that all rates are levied and collected in a fair and timely manner. Support the charging and collection of water and invoicing of fees or charges for assets and facilities owned and managed by the Selwyn District Council. Assist with the collecting of rates and debtors and processing bank transactions whilst providing accurate and friendly advice to our customers, both internal and external.
You will be able to confidently communicate with rate payers while remaining confidential at all times, and have the ability to follow effective and timely debt collection procedures.
To be successful in this role you will have a positive attitude to your work and the diversity of people around you. You will be comfortable using initiative, taking a holistic approach to problem solving and have excellent time management, planning and organisational skills.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience in accounts receivable or related area and whilst not essential, exposure to Local Government policy and processes would be advantageous.
